Project OverviewThis project started as a set of "Character Dossiers" for the non-profit American Industrial Hygiene Association or AIHA, but quickly evolve into an exhibition hall game for their yearly tradeshow.
AIHA's focus is creating and promoting safety standards for different areas of industry as well as protecting worker health. With this in mind I decided that an "industrial sci-fi" look would both compliment artist Klaus Scherwinski's work and invoke the kind of feeling employees might have working in modern healthcare and manufacturing facilities. The game's primary purpose was to act as a recruitment tool that let potential employees in the industrial health sector explore and learn about their career path options. The entire game consists of; a small booklet of character dossiers that were examples of potential career options, fifteen 19" x 87" and five 38" x 87" game stations where players were asked questions and given information, and thirty-five 36" x 36" floor stickers that guided the players around the convention hall. In early 2017 AIHA decided to expand their Professional Pathways program and reach out to a younger audience. I designed the IH HEROES (Industrial Health Heroes) logo to help facilitate this. The inspiration for it came from video games and high-tech companies so that it would have a more clean, modern feel. The entire project went on to win a 2016 Gold MarCom Award and a 2017 AVA Digital Award. You can view the press release here. You can also download a PDF of the booklet on the award site. |
